Downloadable handouts are available to send home with students BEFORE our visit:

I have taught school for more than 30 years and I highly recommend this wonderful book to lovers of children and nature. The author and illustrator gave the best school presentation I have ever seen.  -Sara Doolittle, Teacher Greenville County

This has been one of the best professional development experiences that I've had thus far. It's wonderful to be able to leave a session with ideas that you're eager to share with team members and most importantly students.
- Tanieka Greggs, Teacher evaluation

What kinds of Programs and Professional Development can they provide in a day?

  • Author / Illustrator Visits for Elementary Grades:
"Jake and the Migration of the Monarch and the Magical Migration Adventure."  Features a musical story reading, an engaging skit about migration, a discussion about writing and illustrating a children's book, followed by a book signing.
    --Approximately 45 minutes per session

  • Professional Development:

"Making Connections:  The Arts, Literature, and Student Engagement."  Discover substantive ways in which their book Jake and the Migration of the Monarch can bridge standards  through arts integration and literary foundations.  An interactive skit about migration and teacher guides will engage your learning community through art, drama and music.
Goal:  To prepare teachers for engaging arts integration across the curriculum clearly linked to the standards    Our objectives would include:

    • Model engagement through presentation of an interactive skit

    • Provide teacher guides and materials required for work in small groups, practicing skills with guidance

    • Debut small group presentations to the whole

    • Discuss standards met by each presentation.

--Approximately two and one half hours per session

  • Combination of Author / Illustrator Visits and Professional Development:
Up to three student presentations followed by one 45 minute session with school staff.

What are the costs of having them visit?

While a typical fee for an author visit is $1,500, we bring the author and the illustrator for this fee.  We can make up to three student presentations in a day.  We are also available to provide professional development so that teachers will be better prepared to use our free teaching resources in their classrooms or in school-wide collaboration.

Please feel free to discuss special arrangements with us if this fee is an issue for your school.  Sometimes we are able to arrange visits with neighboring schools to achieve cost savings.  We also discount our books for school-wide purchases.

We will be happy to consider your specific requests for dates, and variance from the above outlined programs. We also visit community groups, libraries, and other locations .  Please contact us at visit@monarchpublishers.com to arrange your date and time.

Be sure to check our calendar!
